The 3-layer garden lighting method
Layer heights so the garden feels warm, designed and easy to walk through.

Build depth with height
Wall lights give the garden structure, bollard and post lamps add soft ambience, and pathway lights guide feet safely through the lawn.
Fairy strings belong near the sit-out corner, balcony or railing as a warm festive accent.
How many garden lights do you need?

|---|---|---|---|

| Landscape bed | Bollard or lawn lights | 8-10 ft apart along beds | Spike or post base |
| Wall or pillar | Wall / pillar lights | One per pillar or every 10-12 ft of wall | Wall bracket |
Diwali-ready, wire-free
Solar fairy strings and decorative lights recharge daily, need no extension cords, and can stay up after the festival.

How to plan garden & landscape lighting
Choose warm white, layer heights and place lights where panels can charge fully.
Warm white is the garden rule
Cool white belongs on streets and security walls; gardens come alive in warm white 2700-3000K. Warm light flatters plants, stone and skin, and turns a lawn into an evening sit-out instead of a parking lot.
Layer three heights, not one
Professional landscape lighting uses wall lights up high for structure, bollard and post lamps at knee-to-waist height for ambience, and pathway lights at ground level for direction.
Pathway spacing that looks designed
Place pathway lights every 6-8 ft, alternating left and right sides of the walk rather than facing pairs. You want soft overlapping pools, not runway-style brightness.
Plan around tree shade
Walk the garden at noon and place lights where they get 5-6 hours of open sky. Under dense trees, shift the light into a clearing or mount wall units above the canopy line.
Buy once: outdoor-grade checklist
Garden lights live in soil, spray and monsoon. Check for IP65 sealing, LiFePO4 battery, a proper spike or metal bracket and a written 2-year warranty.
